How hackers ruin video games

Video games are a highly competitive environment and people are always looking for a competitive edge. One way that people do this is through specialized software called game bots. These are software bots that give players advantages within the game by automating different aspects of the game for the player. Since the software is always going to be faster than manual actions, it will give the player a competitive advantage. In this article we are going to into some of the ways that hackers ruin video games by giving players unfair advantages:

Lag Switch

This is where a player can interrupt the stream of data between another player and the gaming server, which causes movement to stutter and make it appear as if the opponents are moving erratically. There are several ways that people can do this but the overall point is that they are interrupting an opponent’s connection, causing them to lag and making it harder for them to play the game in real-time.

Aimbot

This is one of the most popular types of gaming bots and as the name suggests it helps the players to accurately aim at their opponents. Aimbots can be configured to automatically target opposing players regardless of if they are behind cover or if they are too far away to be shot regularly.

Triggerbot

This program works alongside the aimbot and automatically shoots opposing players when they enter the controlling players’ field-of-view or aiming reticule. When combined with aimbot or used independently this provides a huge competitive advantage. Players using this combination can only really be beaten if the opposing player shoots them from behind or has more health than the controlling player. This type of software is very useful when used in first-person shooters like Fortnite, call of duty, combat arms etc.

Controlled Forced Teleports

This is a coding flaw that allows people to teleport anywhere they want on a map. Imagine a game like Call of duty or a racing game like Nascar where players can teleport to any point on the map that they want. This type of exploit is so popular that there are books on the dark web on how to perform this type of exploit.

Speed Hacking

This refers to changing the speed of a player in a video game and it is very popular in competitive gaming. Being able to move from point A to point B 10, 20, or 30 times faster than the competition is a huge advantage, and it can make it almost impossible for other players to compete. This is very popular in PVP games and it’s one of the most common types of hacks for players to perform.
