Video Games: Video games hold one of the most advanced and practical AIs that are used at scale. Most video games allow you the ability to play against AI players, which are machines that can mimic and compete with real-life players. This allows players to practice or just play against competition even when other real-life people aren’t available. A common example of this is an online chess game where you can play against an AI on varying degrees of difficulty. The AI is so advanced that the highest difficulties are hard for even established chess masters to beat.
Web Search: Websites like Google or Bing have algorithms that can look at a person’s search history and online activity and tailor the results shown to each person. You can check this yourself, you will notice if you ever use incognito mode and compare the search results to your regular browser the results will not be the same. This is because all of the personalization that was done for you will be under your regular browser.
Digital Assistant: This refers to things like SIRI or Amazon’s Alexa. This digital assistant represents simple AIs that can take voice commands and perform that command. If they don’t understand an instruction they can also provide recommendations and ask for clarification.
Cybersecurity: AI in things like next-generation firewalls, intrusion detection systems/ intrusion prevention systems, and what enables them to detect threats based on behavior rather than just signature-based detection. These AIs can learn based on past behavior what malicious behavior looks like and identify new threats based on these past patterns.
Online Shopping & Advertisements: E-commerce sites use AI to provide customized online experiences and product recommendations to potential customers. Also, advertisements are typically tailored to the individual based on their preferences and behavior to ensure that they are being shown ads that relate to their interests and previous search history.
